This note is a little later than I prefer to send out, but that does not
lower the importance of this occasion. On Oct 14, Ben Smart achieved
the coveted BSA rank of Eagle Scout.
Ben started his career in scouting in Pack 1180, where both his mom and
dad were active adult leaders. Ben earned every belt loop and almost
every pin. Once Ben joined troop 204 he began his quest to earn every
badge possible, getting 10 merit badges in the first year. Ben also
helped revamp our website, as the troop's first scout webmaster.
Ben's Eagle project was a flag retirement ceremony that took place at
Market Square prior to the 4th of July parade. Ben received many
accolades from the bystanders who watched the ceremony. I was able to
watch that day and was proud to be in attendance. Truly an
unforgettable day. Of course the project had its own stumbles, as all
projects do, but all in all well done.
Ben has set his sites on becoming a heart surgeon, showing a true desire
to help peoples' lives. "A scout is Helpful"
Please take the time to congratulate Ben on this great achievement the
next time you see him.
Regards
Nick
